Introduction
If a patient experiences severe constipation, glycerin suppositories may be used under a physician’s guidance and prescription. These suppositories help relieve constipation by moistening hardened fecal matter in the intestines, thereby facilitating easier bowel evacuation. The correct method of administration is to gently insert the glycerin suppository into the anus, squeeze the bottle, then gently massage the anal area with tissue for 3–5 minutes; the patient should remain in position for 10 minutes before attempting defecation.

If a patient suffers from severe constipation, glycerin suppositories (e.g., Kaisailu®) may be used under a physician’s guidance and prescription to moisten hardened fecal matter in the intestine, thereby facilitating its expulsion and relieving constipation. The correct administration procedure is as follows:

1. Clean the perianal area: Thoroughly wash the skin around the anus with warm water to prevent residual contaminants on the skin surface.

2. Lubricate the perianal area: Assume the prone position and elevate the buttocks to expose the anal region. Remove the cap from the glycerin suppository bottle and squeeze out a small amount of glycerin onto a cotton swab; apply it gently to the perianal skin.

3. Squeeze the suppository bottle: Gently insert the tip of the glycerin suppository into the anus, then promptly squeeze the bottle body while taking deep breaths.

4. Massage the anus: After administering the solution, gently massage the anal area for 3–5 minutes using clean tissue or gauze. Remain in the prone position for 10 minutes to allow full absorption of the medication before attempting defecation.
