Introduction
During menstruation, women’s bodies are relatively weak and experience significant blood loss, which can lead to temporary anemia. Anemia may cause symptoms such as dizziness and fatigue. Dizziness and tinnitus during menstruation can sometimes result from dysmenorrhea (painful periods). Additionally, the menstrual cycle can affect mood—these experiences are all normal. What matters most is maintaining a healthy mindset, getting adequate rest, relaxing, and paying attention to diet during menstruation.

Some women experience dizziness, tinnitus, or generalized fatigue during their menstrual period—symptoms that often cause significant anxiety.

Tinnitus and Dizziness During Menstruation

During menstruation, women’s bodies are relatively weakened due to blood loss, which may lead to transient anemia. Anemia can cause dizziness and fatigue. In some cases, tinnitus and dizziness during the menstrual period result from dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). Additionally, hormonal fluctuations associated with menstruation can affect mood—making these symptoms entirely normal. What matters most is maintaining a healthy mindset, getting adequate rest, relaxing, and paying attention to diet during this time.

Women should take special care to stay warm during menstruation and avoid exposure to cold—including wading in water, getting caught in rain, prolonged sun exposure, or bathing in cold water. Sexual intercourse, bathing (especially tub baths), and swimming should be avoided. It is essential to maintain cleanliness of the external genitalia, undergarments, and sanitary pads. Pelvic congestion during menstruation commonly causes low back and sacral pain. Many women instinctively relieve discomfort by pounding their lower back with their fists; however, this practice exacerbates pelvic congestion and accelerates blood flow, potentially worsening back pain and increasing menstrual bleeding.

Wearing tight-fitting undergarments during menstruation may impede smooth menstrual flow. The act of putting on or removing such garments causes sudden changes in intra-abdominal and pelvic pressure, potentially leading to retrograde menstrual flow and resulting in low back pain and abdominal discomfort. During active menstruation, strict bed rest is recommended. The room should be quiet and dimly lit, and head movement should be minimized. Typically, tinnitus gradually improves within a few days. However, if tinnitus occurs, prompt medical evaluation is advised to prevent treatment delays. We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health and happiness!
