What should I do if I experience nosebleeds and dizziness?
Recently, for unknown reasons, I’ve been experiencing sudden nosebleeds accompanied by mild dizziness—a condition I’ve never had before. My overall health has otherwise been excellent. What should I do about nosebleeds and dizziness?
What to Do for Nosebleeds Accompanied by Dizziness
When nosebleeds and dizziness occur, the first step is to stop the bleeding. Gently insert a clean tissue into the bleeding nostril and apply gentle pressure to the soft part of the nose. However, identifying the underlying cause of both the nosebleed and dizziness is essential for appropriate treatment. Possible causes include internal heat (“fire” in Traditional Chinese Medicine), elevated blood pressure, or anemia. Therefore, we recommend visiting a hospital for a complete blood count (CBC) test. In the meantime, ensure adequate rest and adjust your diet accordingly.

Keep erythromycin or chloramphenicol ointment readily available at home. During dry weather, apply a thin, even layer inside the nasal passages using a cotton swab to moisturize the nasal mucosa. Regularly clear nasal crusts and mucus to maintain unobstructed breathing, and avoid picking your nose. For nosebleeds caused by colds, allergic rhinitis, tonsillitis, or pneumonia, treatment must address both the bleeding and the underlying condition.

In daily life, drink plenty of water and consume fresh fruits and vegetables—such as tomatoes, leafy greens, radishes, lotus root, water chestnuts, watermelon, and pears—which possess natural hydrating properties. Avoid overconsumption of these foods, as excessive intake may trigger internal heat, and steer clear of fried or greasy foods. We hope this information proves helpful!
