Introduction
Appendicitis typically occurs in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. This region is the most common location for appendicitis; however, appendicitis may also occur beneath the liver, indicating a relatively high-lying appendix. Following the onset of appendicitis, the predominant symptom is migratory pain to the right lower quadrant—initially, patients often experience periumbilical or epigastric pain during the early stage of the disease. Over time…

The appendix occupies an awkward position within the human body—awkward because it is a part of everyone’s anatomy yet serves no known physiological function. Shaped similarly to an earthworm, the appendix varies in length among individuals: some are as short as 2 cm, while others may extend over 20 cm. So, where does appendicitis occur?

 Where Does Appendicitis Occur?

Appendicitis most commonly manifests in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen. However, its location can vary: if the appendix lies beneath the liver, pain may be felt in the right upper quadrant, indicating a relatively high-lying appendix. Following onset, the hallmark symptom is migratory pain—initially localized around the umbilicus or beneath the xiphoid process during early disease stages, then progressively shifting and becoming fixed in the right lower abdomen. Similarly, if the appendix is situated beneath the liver, patients experience right upper abdominal pain; if located within the pelvis, pain is typically felt in the lower abdomen.

To prevent appendicitis, it is essential to strengthen overall physical constitution. An increasing bacterial load within the body can compromise health—but bacteria do not spontaneously arise; rather, they invade when immune defenses are weakened. Therefore, preventing appendicitis hinges on bolstering immunity and avoiding immunosuppression. Otherwise, symptoms may worsen progressively, and overall health will deteriorate. Proper dietary management is equally important: avoid excessive consumption of cold foods and chilled beverages.

In daily life, maintain regular, balanced eating habits—avoid spicy, irritating, or overly rich foods, and refrain from binge eating or staying up late. We hope this information proves helpful.
