Can patients with uterine fibroids eat peanuts?
Uterine fibroids are characterized by a tendency to recur. In most cases, uterine fibroids are benign and can be managed conservatively. However, in some patients, fibroids may gradually increase in number and size, causing tenderness and palpable masses—indicating possible progression requiring surgical intervention. Daily dietary habits should also be carefully considered. So, can women with uterine fibroids eat peanuts?
Can women with uterine fibroids eat peanuts?
Generally, yes—women with uterine fibroids may safely consume peanuts. Although peanuts are classified as nuts, their consumption does not adversely affect uterine fibroids. Eating peanuts will neither accelerate fibroid growth nor induce degeneration. Even in cases where fibroids cause menorrhagia (excessively heavy menstrual bleeding) or prolonged menstruation, peanut consumption remains safe. Peanuts do not exacerbate menstrual flow or otherwise negatively impact menstruation. Therefore, women with uterine fibroids typically face few dietary restrictions; however, it is advisable to avoid spicy or cold foods during menstruation.

Some fibroids are located within the myometrium (intramural) or beneath the serosa (subserosal)—often termed “interstitial” or “subserosal” fibroids. When asymptomatic, such fibroids may require no treatment. However, if they grow large enough—or demonstrate rapid growth—they may cause menorrhagia or other complications. In such cases, treatment options include myomectomy or hysterectomy. Besides surgery, conservative management is also available: medications can help control fibroid growth but may also induce amenorrhea (cessation of menstruation).

Medication is recommended only as short-term, palliative therapy and is not suitable for long-term use. We hope this information has been helpful to you.
