Introduction
Diarrhea after eating muskmelon may be caused by dietary irritation, acute gastroenteritis, allergic gastroenteritis, or other reasons. The high sugar content in muskmelon may stimulate excessive gastric acid secretion, irritating the gastrointestinal tract and leading to diarrhea. Additionally, if the muskmelon has been refrigerated and is consumed at a low temperature, the coldness may irritate the digestive system and cause diarrhea.

Diarrhea after eating melon may be caused by dietary irritation, acute gastroenteritis, or allergic gastroenteritis.

1. Dietary Irritation

Diarrhea after eating melon may occur because melons contain high levels of sugar, which can stimulate excessive gastric acid secretion and irritate the gastrointestinal tract. Alternatively, if the melon has been refrigerated and is consumed at a low temperature, the digestive system may be irritated by the cold, leading to diarrhea.

2. Acute Gastroenteritis

If the melon is spoiled or not properly washed, consuming it may lead to bacterial infections such as Staphylococcus aureus or Salmonella. This can cause acute inflammation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, resulting in acute gastroenteritis and symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain, thereby causing diarrhea after eating melon.

3. Allergic Gastroenteritis

Melons are rich in trace elements. In individuals with an allergic constitution who are sensitive to certain components in melons, consuming them may trigger an abnormal immune response in the digestive system, leading to allergic gastroenteritis. Symptoms such as intestinal colic and diarrhea may occur, resulting in diarrhea after eating melon.
