Problems in the human small intestine may lead to various conditions, commonly including small intestinal ulcers, short bowel syndrome, and enteritis.

1. Small Intestinal Ulcer

Small intestinal ulcers are usually caused by factors such as infection, trauma, or tumors. Patients may experience abnormal symptoms such as indigestion and gastrointestinal bleeding. As the disease progresses, systemic symptoms may develop, including malnutrition, fatigue, and general weakness.

2. Short Bowel Syndrome

Short bowel syndrome generally refers to a malabsorption disorder resulting from extensive surgical removal of the small intestine, leading to a reduced effective absorptive surface area. In the early stages, this condition may cause diarrhea, fluid and electrolyte imbalances, and malnutrition. As the disease advances, malnutrition progressively worsens, potentially leading to decreased muscle strength, loose and wrinkled skin, and dry, thin, yellowish hair.

3. Enteritis

Enteritis may be caused by factors such as Crohn's disease, colitis, or viral and bacterial infections. It can cause symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Patients may also experience accompanying symptoms such as fever and skin rashes.
