What is the difference between a mosquito bite and a flea bite?
Bites from mosquitoes and bites from fleas usually differ in symptoms, appearance, and location.
1. Different Symptoms
After being bitten by a mosquito, mild skin swelling may occur, and in severe cases, symptoms such as blisters and intense itching might develop. In contrast, some people may show no reaction to flea bites, while others may develop papules, red patches, hives, and significant itching.
2. Different Appearance
Mosquito bites typically present as tiny, pinprick-sized dark red spots or swollen bumps visible on the skin. Flea bites, however, often show a small puncture mark at the center and may be accompanied by redness, swelling, or blistering.
3. Different Locations
Mosquito bites usually occur on areas of skin that are frequently exposed, such as the neck, face, hands, and chest. Flea bites, on the other hand, tend to appear in areas covered by clothing, such as around the sock line, the edge of a bra, or the waist.
