Can you get lice from washing your hair every day?
Washing your hair every day may lead to lice infestation, and lice cannot be removed by shampooing alone.
Lice are tiny parasitic insects that primarily live on the human body, feeding on human blood. They are contagious, and when found in the hair, they are commonly referred to as head lice. Even daily hair washing may not prevent lice, as they can spread through contact. To eliminate lice, both adult lice and their eggs must be removed. Simply washing your hair daily is ineffective because head lice are highly resistant to regular shampoos. It's usually necessary to boil and disinfect items such as pillows, towels, combs, and hats, and to apply medicated anti-lice treatments to the hair under a doctor’s guidance, which can help effectively remove head lice.
Lice infestations mainly occur in children and are relatively rare in adults. If lice are present in the hair, symptoms such as papules, red patches, and intense itching may appear. When these symptoms occur, it's important not to scratch the scalp, as scratching may cause skin breaks, crusting, oozing, and even bacterial infections.
