How long can probiotics be stored after opening?
The storage time of probiotics after opening should be determined according to the type of probiotic.
1. Probiotic Granules
Probiotics help maintain a stable intestinal microbiota, strengthen the gut barrier, and isolate harmful substances from the body, which benefits digestion and overall health. If using probiotic granules, they can generally be stored for up to 24 hours after opening. If not taken immediately, storing them under cool conditions may slightly extend their shelf life.
2. Probiotic Drops
Probiotic drops should typically be taken as soon as possible after opening and can usually be kept for about 2 hours. If not consumed in one dose, they may be refrigerated to slightly prolong storage—up to approximately 4 hours. Under normal circumstances, it is advisable to avoid leaving opened probiotics exposed for extended periods, preventing contact with dust and other harmful substances in the air or exposure to sunlight, which could cause denaturation and loss of efficacy.
