Why do I feel nauseous when it's too hot?
Feeling nauseous due to hot weather may be caused by heatstroke, indigestion, chronic gastritis, or other reasons.
1. Heatstroke
Nausea in extremely hot weather may result from prolonged exposure to high temperatures or intense heat radiation, which increases heat production in the body and disrupts the body's temperature regulation mechanism, leading to heat accumulation. This condition, known as heatstroke, may also be accompanied by symptoms such as pale complexion, excessive sweating, thirst, and dizziness.
2. Indigestion
Nausea could also stem from indigestion caused by infection with Helicobacter pylori, or from consuming excessive amounts of raw, cold, spicy, or hard-to-digest foods, which burden the gastrointestinal tract. Patients may simultaneously experience symptoms such as nausea, bloating, loss of appetite, and difficulty concentrating.
3. Chronic Gastritis
Irregular eating habits may lead to increased gastric acid secretion, or consumption of irritants such as coffee and alcoholic beverages may cause chronic gastritis, resulting in the aforementioned symptoms. Patients may also experience discomfort including stomach pain, acid reflux, belching, and abdominal bloating.
