How is epicanthoplasty performed?
Epicanthoplasty, also known as inner or outer eye corner surgery, is a surgical procedure designed to elongate the eyes and widen the double eyelids, achieving a cosmetic enhancement. The surgical process is as follows:
1. Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of the eye area.
2. Design the incision line based on the direction of epicanthal fold.

3. Administer local anesthesia.
4. Cut along the incision line to separate the skin into two flaps, cut through the underlying orbicularis oculi muscle bundles, and remove excess skin at the eye corner.
5. Ask the patient to open their eyes to evaluate the corrective outcome.
6. Finally, suture the incision with cross stitches.
Note: Swelling is expected for a period after surgery and can be alleviated with cold compresses. Maintain a light diet, practice good hygiene, and avoid rubbing the eyes during recovery.
Medications should be used only under the guidance of a qualified physician, and surgery must be performed at a reputable medical facility.
