How is an abdominal CT performed?
Abdominal CT examination is a painless procedure. The patient lies on the CT scanner bed, and the examination is completed as the machine moves automatically. The specific steps are as follows:
1. Generally, patients are required to fast for 4–6 hours before the examination. About 500 ml to 1000 ml of warm water should be consumed during the exam to adequately fill the stomach.

2. The patient lies flat on the abdominal CT examination table, with hands clasped behind the head to fully expose the abdomen. If clothing or foreign objects cover the abdominal area and may interfere with the imaging results, items such as zippers or metallic parts should be removed.
3. The patient's head should be positioned close to the scanning equipment.
4. The body slowly enters the CT scanner and then gradually exits after the scan is completed.
5. After completing the CT examination, do not leave immediately. Follow the doctor’s instructions and wait until the physician confirms that the images are satisfactory before departing.
