Introduction
Axillary temperature measurement generally takes about 5 to 10 minutes. Since it requires a certain amount of time for the temperature in the armpit to be properly transmitted to the thermometer, the thermometer should be kept under the arm for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. If the measurement time is less than 5 minutes, the result may be inaccurate.

Under normal circumstances, the human body's axillary temperature ranges between 36 and 37°C. If a patient develops a fever due to certain factors, a mercury thermometer should be used to measure deep in the armpit. Before measuring, the thermometer should first be shaken vigorously to bring the reading below 35°C, then placed tightly against the skin in the armpit. Since it takes time for the armpit temperature to transfer fully to the thermometer, the thermometer must remain in the armpit for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Measuring for less than 5 minutes may result in inaccurate readings.

After taking the temperature, if the reading is greater than or equal to 37.3°C, this typically indicates a fever. If the temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, physical cooling methods are recommended to help reduce body temperature. However, if the body temperature exceeds 38.5°C, antipyretic medications should be taken under medical guidance. Commonly used medications include acetaminophen and ibuprofen sustained-release capsules.
