Introduction
Dry lips in infants during the postpartum confinement period may be caused by dry weather, high indoor temperature, or dehydration. Additionally, they could result from internal heat ("shang huo"), vitamin deficiency, or physiological dehydration. It is recommended to regularly massage the infant's lips to promote oral blood circulation, ensuring adequate nourishment and helping prevent lip dryness.

Dry lips in infants during the postpartum confinement period may be caused by dry weather, high indoor temperature, dehydration, or other reasons.

1. Dry Weather

Dry weather, especially common during winter, often leads to dry lips in infants. Giving the baby small amounts of warm water frequently can help alleviate this condition.

2. High Indoor Temperature

If high indoor temperature is the cause, the environment should be improved by appropriately lowering the room temperature, ideally maintaining it around 26°C. While keeping a comfortable temperature, attention should also be paid to indoor humidity. If the air is dry, using a humidifier can help increase humidity levels. This will gradually improve the infant's dry lips.

3. Dehydration

If dry lips result from insufficient fluid intake and subsequent dehydration, giving the infant small amounts of warm water frequently can help replenish body fluids and relieve dry lips.

In addition, dry lips might also be caused by internal heat ("shanghuo"), vitamin deficiencies, or physiological dehydration, which require appropriate treatment. It is recommended to regularly massage the infant's lips to promote oral blood circulation, ensuring adequate nourishment and reducing the likelihood of dryness.
