The best recovery method for hemiplegia is walking.
The main cause of hemiplegia is cerebrovascular disease. Rehabilitation for walking should begin only after the patient's condition has stabilized. Exercises can also be performed under the guidance of a professional rehabilitation therapist. Generally, hemiplegic patients can improve through methods such as strengthening lower limb muscle strength and gait training. Taking lower limb strengthening as an example, specific procedures are as follows:
1. The patient sits in front of a small table, places their legs under the table with feet flat on the floor, interlocks both hands and places them on the table, fully extends the upper limbs, and maintains this position for 20 seconds.
2. A family member assists the patient to stand against a wall. Once the patient achieves stability, the family member gradually releases support. The patient continues practicing standing in place. After achieving independent upright standing, the patient may then attempt to take steps while supported by the wall.
3. After achieving stable walking on level ground, stair training can begin. Stand at the bottom of the stairs, place both hands on the handrail, shift body weight toward the handrail side. When ready, step up with one leg first, stabilize the body, bear weight through the handrail and the leading leg, then lift the other leg to follow. Once ascending stairs stably is achieved, practice descending using the same technique.
In addition to the above methods, hemiplegia treatment may also include medications and medical devices.
