Causes of Left Armpit Pain in Women
Left axillary pain in women may be caused by factors such as swollen lymph nodes, intercostal neuralgia, or mammary gland hyperplasia.
1. Swollen Lymph Nodes
The underlying cause and nature of the lymph node enlargement must be identified before determining the appropriate treatment plan. Most cases of lymph node swelling are due to local infections or inflammation. Under a doctor's guidance, medications such as erythromycin capsules, metronidazole tablets, or levofloxacin tablets can be used for treatment.
2. Intercostal Neuralgia
Intercostal neuralgia is characterized by radiating pain from the back or side chest wall along the ribs toward the front of the chest. For patients with significant pain, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be taken as directed by a physician for pain relief, such as celecoxib tablets, indomethacin tablets, or amoxicillin enteric-coated tablets. If oral medication proves ineffective, nerve block therapy may be considered next.
3. Mammary Gland Hyperplasia
The breast tissue extends into the area beneath the armpit via the axillary tail. When hyperplasia occurs, it may lead to pain in the armpit region. Treatment typically involves taking medications such as Xiaoyao Pills, Rutai Capsules, or Rupi Sanjie Capsules under medical supervision to regulate liver function, promote qi flow, and balance meridians.
In addition, conditions such as angina pectoris or myocardial infarction may also present with symptoms including chest pain, palpitations, excessive sweating, and pain in other areas. It is essential to seek timely medical evaluation and diagnosis to avoid delays in treatment.
