Symptoms of appendicitis in women
Symptoms of appendicitis in women may include pain in the lower right abdomen, loss of appetite, constipation, or diarrhea.
1. Lower right abdominal pain: After developing appendicitis, women may experience stimulation of the surrounding sympathetic nerve plexus, causing sudden pain in the lower right abdomen. This pain can spread within a few hours to the entire lower abdomen or pelvic region.
2. Loss of appetite: The appendix is located near colon tissues such as the ascending and transverse colon. When these colon tissues are compressed and irritated by the inflamed appendix, their absorption efficiency often decreases, leading to reduced appetite, early satiety with belching, bloating, and other gastrointestinal discomforts.
3. Constipation or diarrhea: Inflammation of the appendix in female patients can easily disrupt normal peristalsis in the colon and large intestine, resulting in changes in bowel habits. These changes may manifest as constipation, diarrhea, or other signs of bowel irregularity.
Other possible symptoms of appendicitis in women include fever, nausea, and vomiting.
