Suddenly feeling unwell and continuously vomiting clear fluid
Sudden onset of discomfort with persistent vomiting of clear fluid may be caused by chronic gastroenteritis, gastric ulcer, or reflux esophagitis. It is recommended to treat based on the underlying cause.
1. Acute Gastroenteritis
This may result from consuming contaminated food, leading to acute gastroenteritis where pathogens invade and irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa. Under medical guidance, quinolone antibiotics can be used for treatment. Commonly prescribed medications include ciprofloxacin tablets, levofloxacin capsules, and norfloxacin capsules, which help suppress bacterial growth and combat infection.
2. Gastric Ulcer
Gastric ulcers may be caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, resulting in excessive gastric acid secretion that irritates the gastrointestinal mucosa. As advised by a physician, gastric mucosal protectants such as potassium citrate bismuth capsules, hydrotalcite granules, and sucralfate chewable tablets may be used to reduce irritation to the gastric lining.
3. Reflux Esophagitis
Reflux esophagitis may occur due to weakened mucosal barrier function in the esophagus, allowing stomach contents to flow back into the esophagus or throat. Proton pump inhibitors should be taken as directed by a doctor, such as omeprazole enteric-coated tablets, pantoprazole sodium enteric-coated tablets, or rabeprazole sodium enteric-coated tablets, which effectively inhibit gastric acid secretion.
In addition, anxiety disorders could also be a contributing factor. It is advisable to promptly identify the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment accordingly.
