Introduction
The term "lower area" usually refers to the external genitalia (vulva). Itching of the vulva a few days after each menstrual period may result from inadequate cleaning of the external genital organs during menstruation, leading to accumulation of menstrual blood and secretions, which can promote bacterial growth and irritate the vulva, or cause local allergic reactions resulting in pruritus. It could also be caused by conditions such as vulvitis or vaginitis. A complete gynecological examination is necessary to identify the underlying cause and guide appropriate treatment.

The term "below" usually refers to the external genitalia (vulva). Itching in this area a few days after menstruation may be caused by physiological factors, or pathological factors such as local allergies or vulvitis. The underlying cause should be identified through examination before appropriate treatment is initiated.

1. Physiological Causes

If women do not maintain proper hygiene and clean their external genitalia during menstruation, accumulated menstrual blood and secretions can promote bacterial growth and irritate the vulva, leading to itching and discomfort after menstruation. It is recommended to maintain good personal hygiene, regularly clean the external genital area, and frequently change underwear. No specific medical treatment is usually required.

2. Pathological Causes

a. Local Allergy

Poor-quality sanitary pads used during menstruation or wearing synthetic fiber clothing may trigger local allergic reactions, resulting in vulvar itching. Choose high-quality sanitary products and avoid wearing synthetic fabrics. If itching is severe, antiallergic and antipruritic medications such as chlorpheniramine maleate tablets, loratadine tablets, or cetirizine tablets may be taken under medical guidance.

b. Vulvitis

During menstruation, reduced immunity combined with contamination of the vulva from menstrual blood may allow pathogens such as trichomonas or bacteria to proliferate. Infection can lead to post-menstrual itching and discomfort. A secretion test can help confirm the diagnosis, and treatment under a doctor's supervision may include metronidazole tablets, tinidazole tablets, or dual唑tail suppositories.

In addition, conditions such as vaginitis may also cause these symptoms. A complete gynecological examination is recommended to determine the exact cause and receive targeted treatment.
