Introduction
The baby constantly scratching the back of the head may be due to calcium deficiency in the body, which causes excessive sweating in that area and leads to skin discomfort. It could also result from seborrheic dermatitis, in which overproduction of oil by the sebaceous glands irritates the skin on the back of the head. Additionally, eczema caused by genetic, environmental, or dietary factors may lead to itchy skin and subsequent scratching.

Babies constantly scratching the back of their head may be due to reasons such as calcium deficiency, seborrheic dermatitis, or eczema.

1. Calcium deficiency

This may result from insufficient calcium in the body, causing excessive sweating at the back of the head and subsequent skin discomfort. Treatment may include medications such as calcium gluconate oral solution, calcium carbonate granules, or calcium acetate granules, taken under medical guidance.

2. Seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis may cause overproduction of oil by sebaceous glands, irritating the skin at the back of the head. Treatments may include ketoconazole cream, econazole nitrate cream, or tacrolimus ointment, used under a doctor's direction.

3. Eczema

Eczema may arise from genetic, environmental, or dietary factors, leading to itchy skin. Treatment options may include itch-relieving and dampness-removing ointments, calamine lotion, or cetirizine hydrochloride tablets, used as advised by a physician.

In addition, hives could also be a possible cause. It is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
