There is a black scab on top of the black mole.
Generally, a black scab appearing on a mole may result from irritation, trauma, or cellular metabolism on the surface of the pigmented nevus. Specific causes are analyzed as follows:
1. Irritation of the mole
If a patient frequently touches or presses the mole, prolonged friction or stimulation may alter the mole and lead to scab formation. This condition typically does not require treatment; simply avoiding irritation and protecting the mole allows the scab to fall off naturally.
2. Trauma
Trauma can easily cause damage to the area of the mole, possibly accompanied by symptoms such as pain and swelling. It is recommended that patients follow medical advice and use medications such as ibuprofen tablets or Yunnan Baiyao aerosol for treatment.
3. Cellular metabolism on the surface of the pigmented nevus
Scabs may form due to natural cell turnover on the surface of the mole. This situation could potentially indicate an intermediate- or high-risk state, but it does not necessarily mean a typical melanoma has developed. Although this condition is not immediately concerning, early surgical removal is advised, followed by pathological examination to determine its nature.
In addition, localized tissue hyperplasia may also be a possible cause. If the mole exhibits any abnormal symptoms, prompt medical consultation is recommended for accurate diagnosis and treatment by a qualified physician.
