Skin sheds white flakes without pain or itching
Skin shedding white flakes without pain or itching may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it could result from pathological causes such as dandruff or psoriasis.
I. Physiological Causes
Dry skin may lead to the appearance of white flakes on the skin surface. It is important to keep the skin moisturized by using moisturizing creams or lotions. Maintain adequate rest, avoid fatigue, follow a light diet, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and avoid oily, spicy, and irritating foods.
II. Pathological Causes
1. Dandruff
Dandruff is caused by excessive dryness of the scalp or fungal infection, which may result in white flakes on the scalp. Under medical guidance, patients can use antifungal medications such as terbinafine tablets or itraconazole capsules for treatment.
2. Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that may cause white scales on the skin. Under medical supervision, topical treatments such as keratolytic agents or corticosteroids can be applied, including 5% salicylic acid ointment and hydrocortisone tablets.
In addition, white skin flakes may also be caused by pityriasis versicolor. If white flakes appear on the skin, prompt medical evaluation and treatment are recommended.
