Introduction
A feeling of blockage or choking in the middle of the chest during meals may be caused by both physiological and pathological factors, such as heart disease or gastrointestinal disorders. Treatment may include a light diet and medication based on the underlying cause. Additionally, esophageal polyps may also cause this symptom, which typically requires surgical removal of the polyp under a doctor's guidance.

A sensation of blockage in the middle of the chest while eating, similar to something being stuck, may be caused by both physiological and pathological factors, such as heart diseases or gastrointestinal disorders. Treatment may include adopting a light diet and medication based on the underlying cause.

I. Physiological Causes

If the food consumed is particularly dry or difficult to swallow, it may easily cause a feeling of obstruction. Usually, no special treatment is required. Drinking more water can help flush out any residue in the esophagus and relieve symptoms. Avoid eating large amounts at once, and maintain a light, easily digestible diet.

II. Pathological Causes

1. Heart Failure

Eating too much at once may divert a large amount of blood flow to the stomach, further reducing blood supply to the heart, which could lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath and chest pain. Medications may be used for treatment, such as acetylcholine tablets or metoprolol tablets, taken orally under a doctor's guidance.

2. Reflux Gastritis

Unhealthy eating habits may contribute to gastrointestinal conditions such as bile reflux gastritis, which commonly presents with heartburn, acid regurgitation, swallowing pain, or indigestion. These symptoms can usually be improved with medications, such as omeprazole tablets or cimetidine tablets, taken as directed by a physician.

In addition, esophageal polyps may also cause such symptoms, which typically require surgical removal of the polyp under medical supervision.
