Can Wan Tong Jingu Tie (musculoskeletal patches) be used during lactation?
It is generally not recommended to use Wantong Jingu Tie (Wantong Musculoskeletal Plaster) during lactation, as it may expose the baby to medication.
Wantong Jingu Tie contains ingredients such as Chuanxiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong), Chuan Niuxi (Cyathula officinalis), Bai Zhi (Angelica dahurica), Yanhusuo (Corydalis yanhusuo), Hong Hua (Carthamus tinctorius), Rou Gui (Cinnamomum cassia), Ding Xiang (Syzygium aromaticum), menthol, and borneol. These medicinal components are typically absorbed into the body after application and may remain in breast milk. When the baby nurses, they may ingest these drug components, potentially affecting their health. Therefore, using Wantong Jingu Tie during breastfeeding is generally not advised.
If pain or other symptoms occur during lactation, methods such as physical therapy, massage, or warm compresses may be considered to relieve discomfort. In severe cases, diagnosis and treatment should be conducted under a doctor's guidance.
