Is bile reflux disease a lifelong condition?
Bile reflux disease is usually not a lifelong condition and can often be cured with active treatment.
Bile reflux disease is generally caused by delayed gastric emptying, reduced pyloric pressure, or sphincter dysfunction, leading to bile reflux that further damages the esophageal and gastric mucosa, resulting in inflammation. Patients commonly experience symptoms such as abdominal bloating, vomiting, nausea, belching, and acid regurgitation. The vomit is often bitter-tasting, and severe cases may lead to gastrointestinal bleeding. With standardized treatment and adjustments to dietary habits, the condition can usually be cured and does not persist for life.
Under a doctor's guidance, bile reflux disease can be treated with medications such as aluminum magnesium carbonate chewable tablets, bismuth potassium citrate tablets, and sucralfate chewable tablets.
