Can you get pregnant during ovulation if using a condom?
Using a condom generally refers to wearing a contraceptive condom. During the ovulation period, if a condom is used correctly throughout intercourse and there is no semen leakage, pregnancy usually does not occur. However, if the condom is not worn for the entire duration of intercourse or if semen leaks into the vagina, pregnancy may occur. Whether pregnancy happens depends on specific circumstances.
1. Unlikely
If the male partner wears a condom properly throughout intercourse during ovulation, and after intercourse the condom is found intact with no leakage of semen, sperm typically will not enter the vagina. In such cases, the chance of pregnancy is very low, and pregnancy generally will not occur.
2. Possible
If intercourse begins without a condom and the condom is only put on before ejaculation, a small amount of semen may have already entered the vagina and fertilized an egg, leading to pregnancy. Additionally, if the condom is not removed promptly after ejaculation or if the condom breaks, resulting in semen leaking into the vagina, pregnancy may also occur.
Under normal circumstances, the likelihood of pregnancy when using condoms correctly is low. However, no contraceptive method is 100% effective. If pregnancy is not desired, it is recommended to consistently and correctly use reliable contraception during intercourse.
