Introduction
Whether cold medicine can be taken during menstruation depends on the severity of symptoms. If cold symptoms are relatively mild, taking cold medicine is generally not recommended, as it may affect blood coagulation and lead to increased menstrual bleeding. If cold symptoms worsen and are accompanied by fever, cold medication should be used under medical guidance to prevent prolongation of the illness. Additionally, all medications must be taken under a doctor's supervision.

Whether cold medicine can be taken during menstruation should be determined under a doctor's guidance based on the severity of the individual's symptoms.

1. Not recommended

If cold symptoms are relatively mild, taking cold medicine is generally not advised—especially medications containing nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen, which may affect blood coagulation, increase menstrual bleeding, and worsen the condition during menstruation.

2. Permissible

If cold symptoms significantly worsen and are accompanied by noticeable discomforts such as joint pain or fever, it is important to follow medical advice and promptly use appropriate cold medications to prevent further symptom progression and prolonged illness.

In addition, medication must always be taken under a doctor’s supervision, and patients should avoid adjusting dosages blindly.
