How is rib fracture treated?
Rib fractures can be treated under medical guidance through medication, conservative management, or surgical treatment.
1. Medication
If pain symptoms are significant, it is recommended to follow a doctor's instructions and use medications such as celecoxib capsules, ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, or etoricoxib tablets for anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment.
2. Conservative Management
If surgery is not indicated, symptoms should be improved under medical guidance by methods such as bed rest or using an elastic chest binder to stabilize the thoracic cage.
3. Surgical Treatment
For patients with severe fracture-related pain who meet surgical indications, timely debridement or thoracotomy should be performed according to medical advice to prevent worsening of symptoms.
In addition, for patients who develop complications such as pulmonary contusion and experience symptoms like dyspnea or even respiratory failure, assisted ventilation using a ventilator is recommended under medical supervision.
