Video of the entire procedure of an abortion surgery
In general, "induced abortion" refers to the surgical termination of pregnancy, commonly including vacuum aspiration and dilation and curettage (D&C). Taking vacuum aspiration as an example, the specific procedure is as follows:
1. The patient is placed in the lithotomy position with legs separated and secured in leg supports.
2. After intravenous anesthesia, the vagina and surrounding area are disinfected, and a sterile drape is applied.
3. A vaginal speculum is used to dilate the vagina, followed by disinfection of the vagina and cervix.
4. The anterior lip of the cervix is grasped with a cervical clamp. A probe is then used to determine the depth and direction of the uterine cavity, and an appropriate suction cannula is selected based on cavity size.
5. One end of the suction cannula is connected to the aspirator, while the other end is slowly inserted into the uterine cavity.
6. Negative pressure is generated by the aspirator, and the cannula is moved gently to remove intrauterine tissue and the gestational sac.
7. The cannula is rotated 1–2 times within the uterine cavity; once a rough sensation is felt, indicating completion, the cannula is withdrawn, concluding the procedure.
This procedure may cause some physical trauma. It is therefore recommended to undergo the operation at a正规 medical facility under the guidance of qualified medical professionals to minimize surgical risks. After the procedure, medications to promote uterine contraction and antibiotics to prevent infection may be prescribed by a physician. Additionally, sexual intercourse should be avoided for a short period to ensure proper recovery.
