Introduction
There may be slight discomfort. Suture removal for wisdom teeth is generally recommended about 5–7 days after tooth extraction. During the procedure, the area is disinfected locally with iodophor, and sterile scissors are used to cut the sutures, after which the remaining thread is gently pulled out. However, suture removal usually does not cause pain or significant sensation, so there's no need to feel overly anxious during the process.

In general, whether removing stitches after wisdom tooth extraction is painful depends on individual circumstances, which can typically be divided into the following two situations:

1. Painless

Stitch removal is the final step in surgical procedures, involving the removal of sutures so that the wound can heal properly. If the patient's wound has healed well after wisdom tooth surgery without infection or other complications, the process of removing the stitches may not be painful. Additionally, if the doctor is very careful and gentle during removal, minimizing stimulation to the surrounding tissues, the procedure may also be painless.

2. Painful

If the suture thread is slightly adhered to the edge of the wound, pulling it gently during removal may cause discomfort or pain. If there is still mild swelling or sensitivity at the surgical site, this discomfort may be more noticeable.

To minimize discomfort during stitch removal, it is recommended to use local anesthesia or apply ice packs to reduce potential pain. For daily care, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing regularly, reducing intake of sweets, and scheduling routine dental check-ups to promote overall oral health.
