Introduction
Children's skin, muscles, and bones are relatively delicate and fragile, making them susceptible to external stimuli. As a form of physical therapy, massage (tuina) may cause injury to these areas if performed improperly or with excessive force. Children also have relatively weak immune systems and limited resistance to diseases. If strict hygiene protocols are not followed during the massage process,

Under normal circumstances, pediatric massage may not be recommended due to reasons such as the delicate nature of children's bodies, weak immunity, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, anemia, fractures, and others. Specific analysis is as follows:

1. Delicate Physical Constitution in Children

The skin, muscles, bones, and other tissues in children are relatively delicate and fragile, making them susceptible to external stimuli. As a form of physical therapy, if pediatric massage is performed improperly or with excessive force, it may cause injury to these areas.

2. Weak Immune System in Children

Children generally have weaker immune systems and limited capacity to resist diseases. If strict hygiene protocols are not followed during massage, or if the practitioner lacks professional skills, it could lead to infections or even worsen existing conditions.

3. Hand-Foot-and-Mouth Disease

Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is an acute febrile rash-causing infectious disease caused by enteroviruses. During the acute phase of this illness, the child's immune system is actively fighting the virus. Massage may divert the body's resources away from combating the infection, and physical contact may facilitate further viral spread; therefore, massage is not recommended.

4. Anemia

Anemia in children results from critically low hemoglobin levels, which reduces the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity. Even mild physical stimulation during massage may exacerbate tissue hypoxia. Therefore, pediatric massage is not advised for children suffering from anemia.

5. Fractures

A fracture involves a complete or partial break in the continuity of bone structure. Given that children's bones are relatively fragile, performing massage blindly after a fracture may lead to misalignment or worsening of the injury. Thus, pediatric massage is not recommended during the period of fracture healing.

Parents are advised not to perform massage on their children without professional guidance. If a child exhibits any symptoms of discomfort, prompt medical consultation and treatment under medical supervision are recommended.
