Introduction
Drinking more water during menstruation is generally beneficial for the body, as it helps accelerate metabolism and relieve menstrual constipation and other discomforts. However, the amount of water intake should be increased within the limits your body can tolerate. If you feel bloated or experience a heavy sensation after drinking water, you should reduce your intake appropriately—about 2000 milliliters per day is sufficient. At the same time, it's important to maintain a light diet to avoid causing pelvic congestion.

Generally, drinking more water during menstruation can be beneficial for the body, as it helps accelerate metabolism. However, intake should be kept within a reasonable range to avoid placing extra strain on the body.

During menstruation, as menstrual blood is discharged, the body also loses water. Therefore, increasing fluid intake helps maintain hydration and bodily balance, promotes metabolism, and alleviates menstrual discomfort. Increased water consumption can also soften stools and help relieve constipation or difficulty in bowel movements commonly experienced during this period.

Although staying hydrated is beneficial, it's important to monitor the amount consumed. Drinking more water is acceptable within your body’s tolerance, but excessive intake is not recommended, as it may impair kidney detoxification and slow down kidney metabolism. It is generally advised to consume about 2,000 milliliters of water per day—approximately 7 to 8 cups.

In addition to maintaining proper hydration during menstruation, it's important to follow a balanced diet. Meals should be mild and清淡 (light) in flavor, avoiding spicy, stimulating, raw, or cold foods such as chili peppers, ice cream, popsicles, and pepper, which may stimulate the pelvic area, cause pelvic congestion, and increase menstrual flow.

Proper self-care can help reduce adverse symptoms and assist women in regulating their emotions, allowing for a more comfortable menstrual experience. However, if discomfort during menstruation is severe—such as intense abdominal pain or heavy bleeding—it is advisable to seek medical attention promptly.
