Introduction
What Causes Soreness and Pain in the Right Arm? Soreness and pain in the right arm are commonly attributable to inflammation of the right arm muscles or myofascial pain syndrome. The most frequent cause is chronic, long-term muscle strain of the upper arm, leading to aseptic (non-infectious) inflammation. If a patient has experienced prolonged, chronic strain of the right arm and develops localized soreness, activity should be reduced.

Aching and pain in the right arm should raise suspicion of right-arm muscle inflammation or myofascial syndrome. The most common cause is chronic, long-term overuse injury of the upper arm muscles, leading to an aseptic inflammatory response.

This condition commonly affects individuals who frequently use their arms—such as teachers, manual laborers, and drivers—who are prone to developing arm discomfort. If a patient has sustained chronic overuse injury of the right arm accompanied by localized aching pain, activity should be reduced. Topical application of Wantong Jingu Plaster to the affected area, orthopedic herbal fumigation and washing, or oral administration of Shujin Huoxue Tablets or Yunnan Baiyao may help alleviate the discomfort.

If the patient suffers from cervical spondylosis with associated right-arm aching pain, cervical immobilization using a neck collar and cervical traction therapy are recommended. Additionally, adjunctive therapies—including acupuncture and moxibustion applied to the cervical region—can help reduce nerve root irritation and thereby relieve clinical symptoms.
