Is it safe to eat tofu that has become sticky?
If the tofu is slightly sticky but has not spoiled or developed an off smell, it is generally still safe to eat. However, if the tofu has spoiled or smells abnormal, it typically should not be consumed.

If the tofu is only slightly sticky on the surface, without any unpleasant odor, mold spots, or other signs of spoilage, and has been stored in a refrigerator or a cool environment, the stickiness may be due to surface drying caused by water evaporation or starch exudation. In such cases, the tofu can usually be safely consumed after thoroughly rinsing and cooking it completely.
Sticky tofu may contain large amounts of microorganisms and their metabolic byproducts, which can pose health risks. If the tofu is sticky, spoiled, or has an unusual smell, it generally should not be eaten. Consumption may lead to food poisoning, with common symptoms including abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever.
Tofu should be consumed as soon as possible after purchase and should not be stored for extended periods. If storage is necessary, tofu should be kept in a refrigerated environment. In daily life, a light and balanced diet is recommended to help maintain good health.
