What causes a dry throat?
Dry throat may be caused by insufficient water intake, environmental factors, tonsillitis, reflux esophagitis, chronic pharyngitis, etc., and can be improved according to different situations. It is recommended to visit a hospital promptly and receive treatment under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Insufficient water intake: If daily water intake is inadequate, the body may become dehydrated, causing dryness of the throat mucosa due to lack of moisture. It is recommended to develop the habit of drinking water regularly, consume more boiled water, and appropriately drink herbal teas that clear heat and soothe the throat to keep the throat moist.
2. Environmental factors: Prolonged stays in dry environments such as air-conditioned or heated rooms, or living in hot, windy areas can cause rapid evaporation of moisture from the throat mucosa, leading to dryness. It is recommended to use a humidifier to increase air humidity, avoid staying in dry environments for long periods, and wear a mask when going outdoors.
3. Tonsillitis: This condition is often caused by bacterial or viral infections. Inflammation of the tonsils can cause irritation leading to a dry, sore throat, with increased pain during swallowing, accompanied by fever, a sensation of a foreign body in the throat, and other symptoms. Patients may use medications such as Amoxicillin Capsules, Lanqin Oral Liquid, and Compound Honeysuckle Granules under a doctor's guidance to alleviate symptoms.
4. Reflux esophagitis: Stomach contents may reflux into the esophagus or even up to the throat, where gastric acid and other reflux substances irritate the throat mucosa, causing dryness. Symptoms often include heartburn, acid regurgitation, and retrosternal pain. It is recommended to use medications such as Omeprazole Enteric-coated Capsules, Domperidone Tablets, and Aluminum Magnesium Carbonate Chewable Tablets under a doctor's guidance to relieve discomfort.
5. Chronic pharyngitis: Repeated episodes of acute pharyngitis or long-term smoking and alcohol consumption, or exposure to dust and other factors can lead to chronic inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa and lymphoid tissues, causing symptoms such as dryness and itching of the throat, and possibly a sensation of a foreign body or irritation-induced coughing. Patients may use medications such as Qinghou Liyan Granules, Pharyngitis Tablets, and Compound Borax Mouthwash under medical guidance to improve symptoms.
