Can pregnant women eat starfruit?
Pregnant women can consume carambola (star fruit) in moderation, but should pay attention to their individual constitution and the amount consumed.

Carambola is rich in various nutrients, such as vitamin C, organic acids, carbohydrates, minerals, and dietary fiber. These components have positive effects on both maternal health and fetal development. For example, vitamin C can enhance the pregnant woman's immune system and help prevent colds; organic acids can stimulate gastric juice secretion, aid digestion, and relieve morning sickness; dietary fiber helps promote intestinal motility and prevent constipation.
However, carambola has a slightly cold nature, and excessive consumption may exacerbate coldness in the body and cause discomfort for pregnant women with a cold constitution. Carambola contains certain amounts of oxalic acid and neurotoxins. While these substances are generally not harmful when consumed in normal quantities, they may increase the burden on the kidneys or even cause toxic reactions if consumed excessively or by those with kidney insufficiency. In addition, pregnant women who are allergic to carambola should avoid consuming it to prevent allergic reactions.
Generally, it is appropriate for pregnant women to consume one to two carambolas per day. Also, when consuming carambola, pregnant women should choose fresh, ripe fruits and avoid those showing signs of spoilage or deterioration.
