Introduction
Mediastinal tumors are neoplasms that arise within the mediastinum—the anatomical region located between the two lungs and bounded anteriorly by the sternum and posteriorly by the vertebral column. This region is subdivided into the superior, anterior, middle, and posterior mediastinum. Most mediastinal tumors can be treated surgically; however, a minority require biopsy for definitive diagnosis followed by non-surgical treatment modalities.

Mediastinal tumors are neoplasms arising within the mediastinum—the anatomical region located between the two lungs and bounded anteriorly by the sternum and posteriorly by the vertebral column. This region is further subdivided into the superior, anterior, middle, and posterior mediastinum. Most mediastinal tumors can be treated surgically; however, certain types—including some germ cell tumors and hematologic malignancies—require histopathological confirmation via biopsy prior to initiation of non-surgical therapies. Many mediastinal tumors are asymptomatic and are incidentally detected during routine physical examinations. The above information is for reference only; specific medications and treatment plans should be determined based on in-person clinical evaluation and guidance from a qualified physician.
