How to Determine if a Child Is a “Late Bloomer”: Only children with delayed sexual maturation may be late bloomers—that is, while their peers have completed puberty and their growth plates have fused, late bloomers are just entering puberty and are still growing. First, observe the timing of your child’s development of secondary sexual characteristics. If puberty begins at an age considered normal, the child does not qualify as a late bloomer.
晚长是正常生长的一种类型，只有性成熟时间出现延迟的孩子才有可能晚长，也就是说当同龄人的青春期结束生长，生长板愈合之后，晚长的孩子才刚刚进入青春期仍在生长中，这属于晚长。
