Introduction
This process typically concludes within 2–3 days, and rarely lasts longer than one week. Once the follicle matures, it is released from the ovary; at this time, hormone levels—particularly progesterone—rise significantly. This hormonal surge alters cervical mucus: its volume increases, and it becomes thinner and more elastic (forming stretchy, thread-like strands), thereby facilitating sperm passage.

During the ovulation period, hormonal fluctuations may cause an increase in vaginal discharge, which often becomes stretchy and stringy. This change typically lasts for 2–3 days and rarely exceeds one week. Ovulation occurs when a mature ovarian follicle releases an egg from the ovary.

At this time, hormone levels—particularly progesterone—rise significantly. This hormonal surge alters the properties of cervical mucus: its volume increases and it becomes thinner and more elastic (i.e., “spinnbarkeit”), facilitating sperm passage through the cervix and thereby enhancing the likelihood of conception.

Hormonal fluctuations during ovulation may also cause light vaginal spotting. When minimal bleeding mixes with the increased vaginal discharge, it may appear as blood-tinged leukorrhea. Additionally, some women experience a slight rise in basal body temperature during ovulation.
