Introduction
1. Lower abdominal discomfort: This is a symptom of severe cervical erosion, manifesting as noticeable discomfort in the lower abdomen. 2. Abnormal vaginal discharge: This is one of the characteristic symptoms of severe cervical erosion; women may experience abnormal vaginal discharge following infection with severe cervical erosion. 3. Pelvic inflammatory disease: Due to the extensive area and deep tissue infiltration associated with severe cervical erosion.

Severe cervical erosion is a relatively serious gynecological condition. Patients with severe cervical erosion commonly experience lower abdominal pain, increased vaginal discharge that is yellowish and foul-smelling, irregular vaginal bleeding, as well as urinary frequency and urgency. Moreover, severe cervical erosion may cause postcoital bleeding and infertility in women. Therefore, surgical intervention—typically using the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP)—is generally recommended for women diagnosed with severe cervical erosion. But what are the specific symptoms of severe cervical erosion? The following section addresses this question.

Symptoms of Severe Cervical Erosion

1. Lower Abdominal Discomfort

Lower abdominal discomfort is a hallmark symptom of severe cervical erosion and is often pronounced. However, this symptom alone represents only part of the clinical picture; some women may also experience low back pain, a sensation of pelvic heaviness or dragging, and dysmenorrhea. Furthermore, as the disease progresses to a severe stage, irregular vaginal bleeding may occur. Many women develop this symptom following infection with severe cervical erosion.

2. Abnormal Vaginal Discharge

Abnormal vaginal discharge is one of the characteristic manifestations of severe cervical erosion. Women infected with severe cervical erosion typically exhibit a marked increase in vaginal discharge. The discharge may appear yellowish, and some patients may notice blood-tinged mucus. Additionally, some women experience contact bleeding—vaginal bleeding following sexual intercourse. Consequently, women diagnosed with severe cervical erosion should abstain from sexual activity.

3. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

Due to the extensive area and deep infiltration associated with severe cervical erosion—and because the cervical lymphatic vessels communicate directly with the parametrial connective tissue—inflammation can spread via the lymphatic system into the pelvis, leading to pelvic inflammatory disease. Affected individuals may then experience low back and sacral pain, pelvic pressure or fullness, and dysmenorrhea in daily life. Moreover, cervical inflammation may disseminate or directly extend to the trigone of the bladder, resulting in urinary frequency and dysuria; secondary urinary tract infections may also develop.

The above outlines the key symptoms associated with severe cervical erosion. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
