Introduction
1. Glans inflammation: In males infected with Candida, the glans penis and prepuce are the first sites affected; balanitis is the predominant symptom. 2. Urinary tract symptoms: Ascending bacterial infection may involve the male urinary tract, leading to symptoms such as urinary frequency and urgency. 3. Scrotal symptoms: Erythematous rashes may appear on the penile contact surfaces, accompanied by pruritus and a stinging sensation.

Candida infection is common among male genital tract infections. Normally, Candida does not invade the male genital tract; however, men who engage in sexual intercourse with women suffering from candidiasis are at high risk of developing this infection. So, what are the symptoms of candidiasis in men?

What Are the Symptoms of Candidiasis in Men?

1. Balanitis (Inflammation of the Glans Penis)

Following Candida infection in men, the glans penis and foreskin are typically the first sites affected. Balanitis is the predominant symptom, characterized by pustules, erosion, and erythema or swelling of the glans.

2. Urinary Tract Symptoms

When the infection ascends into the urinary tract, it may cause urinary frequency and urgency—though these symptoms tend to be mild and nonspecific. More commonly, patients report urethral pruritus (itching), a burning sensation during urination, and minimal urethral discharge, which is typically watery or mucoid in consistency.

3. Scrotal Symptoms

When the scrotum becomes involved, erythematous rashes may appear on the contact surfaces of the penis, accompanied by pruritus. The glans may exhibit erosions, papulovesicular lesions, or thin-walled pustules. In severe cases, the infection may extend to the penile shaft, scrotum, inner thighs, and inguinal regions.

4. Acute Edematous Inflammation

A small proportion of patients develop acute edematous balanitis. This manifests as marked swelling of the glans, often accompanied by ulceration. After sexual intercourse, patients may experience a burning sensation, pruritus, and erythema of the glans.

The above outlines the typical symptoms of candidiasis in men. Men who notice such skin lesions involving the glans or foreskin should seek prompt medical attention—early diagnosis enables timely treatment and helps prevent complications. We hope this information has been helpful to you.
