Introduction
Generally, abstinence is not required while taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan; however, the frequency of sexual activity should be reduced. Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is a traditional Chinese patent medicine that nourishes yin and tonifies the kidneys. Sexual activity may be适度 (moderately) continued during treatment without affecting the drug’s efficacy; however, the frequency of sexual activity must be reduced and should not be excessive, as overindulgence may exacerbate the patient’s condition.

Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) primarily functions to nourish yin and tonify the kidneys. It is indicated for conditions involving kidney yin deficiency, such as dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, bone-steaming fever (a sensation of internal heat), night sweats, and seminal emission. Patients presenting with these symptoms may experience therapeutic benefits from this formula.

Is abstinence required while taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan?

In most cases, complete abstinence is not required while taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan; however, sexual activity should be moderated—i.e., frequency should be reduced.

Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is a traditional Chinese patent medicine that nourishes yin and strengthens the kidneys. Engaging in sexual activity during treatment is generally permissible and does not interfere with the medication’s efficacy. However, excessive or overly frequent sexual activity should be avoided, as it may exacerbate the underlying condition. This formula is commonly used to treat symptoms including dizziness, tinnitus, soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, night sweats, seminal emission, and kidney yin deficiency. Its principal ingredients include Chinese yam (Shan Yao), tree peony bark (Mu Dan Pi), poria (Fu Ling), alisma (Ze Xie), and prepared rehmannia root (Shu Di Huang). Patients with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, pregnant or lactating women, children, or those allergic to any component of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan should consult a physician before use.

In daily life, individuals are encouraged to engage in regular physical exercise to enhance overall physical fitness and ensure adequate rest. Additionally, patients with impaired renal function may benefit from incorporating kidney-tonifying foods into their diet, such as Chinese chives, Chinese yam, lamb, goji berries, and beef.

The above outlines whether abstinence is necessary while taking Liu Wei Di Huang Wan. We hope this information is helpful to you.
