Introduction
Male candidal balanitis, also known as fungal balanitis, is a common condition. The most prominent symptoms include itching and burning of the glans penis and foreskin. Additionally, curd-like white discharge may be observed on the glans and in the coronal sulcus. In men, candidal infection is often acquired through sexual intercourse. Candida species are commonly present in the female genital tract—some women exhibit symptomatic infection, while others remain asymptomatic carriers over prolonged periods.

In daily life, many men—just like women—neglect hygiene of their genital area, which can lead to infections of the reproductive system, such as candidal balanitis. Such infections may adversely affect normal sexual activity. So, what exactly is candidal balanitis in men?

What Is Candidal Balanitis in Men?

Candidal balanitis in men is also known as fungal balanitis. The most prominent symptoms include itching and a burning sensation of the glans penis and foreskin. Additionally, curd-like white discharge may be observed on the glans and in the coronal sulcus. In most cases, male candidal infection is sexually transmitted. Candida species naturally reside in the female genital tract; some women are asymptomatic carriers, while others exhibit active infection. During intercourse, these fungi can be transmitted to male partners. Men with phimosis or poor personal hygiene—particularly failure to regularly clean beneath the foreskin—are especially susceptible to developing candidal balanitis.

Men diagnosed with candidal balanitis should maintain strict genital hygiene: bathe regularly, change underwear frequently, avoid multiple sexual partners, and consistently use condoms during intercourse.

Dietary adjustments are also important: consume light, easily digestible foods; avoid spicy or irritating foods; and abstain completely from smoking and alcohol consumption, as these may exacerbate the condition. Regular, moderate physical exercise is also recommended. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
