Introduction
White specks adhering to the hair may be lice eggs (nits) or dandruff. Lice eggs (nits): These are the eggs of head lice, which typically infest the scalp. Female lice lay their eggs and cement them firmly to hair shafts near the scalp. Dandruff: Excessive dandruff may result from conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis or tinea capitis (scalp ringworm). Large amounts of flaking skin can accumulate on the hair, appearing as discrete white specks.

1. Lice eggs (nits): Nits are the eggs of head lice, which typically infest the scalp and attach firmly to hair shafts. The presence of nits manifests as tiny white specks on the hair. Treatment involves using a fine-toothed comb to meticulously remove both live lice and nits, followed by topical application of *Stemona* tincture or sulfur ointment.

2. Dandruff: Excessive dandruff may result from seborrheic dermatitis or tinea capitis (scalp ringworm). Accumulation of large amounts of dandruff on the hair can appear as discrete white specks. For seborrheic dermatitis, topical erythromycin ointment is recommended; for fungal infection, an antifungal agent should be applied.

Maintain good scalp hygiene: shampoo regularly using a mild, non-irritating shampoo to avoid scalp damage, and refrain from vigorous scratching of the scalp.
