Can QINLANG Eczema Ointment be used for infants?
QINLANG Eczema Ointment is indicated for various skin inflammatory conditions, including tinea versicolor, vesicles, desquamation, eczema, diaper rash, infantile seborrheic dermatitis (“milk crust”), and insect bites caused by dermatophyte infections. It is safe for use in infants; however, the dosage must be appropriately adjusted, and concurrent use with other medications is recommended. For more severe cases of infantile eczema, calamine lotion may be added as adjunctive therapy. Additionally, applying petroleum jelly topically helps maintain skin barrier function and hydration. Low-potency topical corticosteroids such as fluocinonide (e.g., Fluocinolone Acetonide) may also be applied judiciously.

Eczema ointments are broadly classified into two categories based on whether they contain corticosteroids. Non-steroidal formulations primarily exert astringent and antipruritic effects, alleviating itching and promoting rapid crusting and healing of weeping or eroded lesions. Steroid-containing ointments mainly reduce cutaneous inflammation and suppress excessive local skin sensitivity. It is generally recommended to initiate treatment with non-steroidal ointments; if symptoms remain uncontrolled, corticosteroid-containing preparations may be introduced. Both types are effective in resolving eczema when used appropriately.

This product is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation, generally associated with minimal adverse effects. However, allergic reactions may occur.
