A poor mood does not cause hyperlipidemia. Elevated blood lipid levels are unrelated to emotional fluctuations but are closely associated with dietary habits—primarily unhealthy lifestyle and eating patterns, such as binge eating, overeating, and insufficient physical activity. Consistently consuming large amounts of meat and fatty foods, frequently eating meat and drinking alcohol, excessive intake of refined carbohydrates (e.g., noodles and other flour-based foods), absence of hunger cues throughout the day, sedentary behavior, and obesity—all contribute to elevated blood lipid levels.

Elevated blood lipid levels (hyperlipidemia) can result from both congenital and acquired factors. Congenital factors refer to hereditary familial hyperlipidemia, whereas acquired causes are primarily related to unhealthy lifestyle and dietary habits. Elevated lipid levels are unrelated to emotional fluctuations but closely associated with dietary patterns—particularly unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits, such as binge eating, insufficient physical activity, long-term consumption of fatty meats and alcohol, excessive intake of refined carbohydrates (e.g., noodles and other flour-based foods), persistent lack of hunger sensation, sedentary behavior, obesity, chronic sleep deprivation, irregular daily routines, excessive stress, emotional agitation, anger, anxiety, and restlessness. Hyperlipidemia is also associated with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, Cushing’s syndrome (adrenocortical hyperfunction), and nephrotic syndrome. Moreover, the incidence of hyperlipidemia increases with advancing age.

Hyperlipidemia may also contribute to ischemic stroke—primarily because, in patients with concomitant hypertension, blood vessels tend to remain in a state of spasm; when arterial hardening occurs, vascular endothelial injury ensues, increasing the risk of hemorrhagic stroke.
