Disease description:

Recently, I noticed that my baby didn’t seem to be in good spirits, so I took their temperature. Could you please tell me whether a temperature of 37.8°C is considered a fever in children?

Dr. Wang Liyan
A child’s temperature of 37.8°C constitutes a mild fever—not high enough to warrant immediate antipyretic medication. Physical cooling methods are recommended first: applying a fever-reducing patch, encouraging the child to drink plenty of warm water, or gently wiping the child’s body with a warm towel. Ensure adequate heat dissipation. However, if the fever persists or continues to rise, promptly administer a pediatric-specific antipyretic medication.
