Is a heart rate of 104 beats per minute normal for a woman?
Disease description:
I’ve been under considerable stress lately, have trouble sleeping, and feel irritable most of the time. I visited the hospital for a check-up, and my blood pressure was 130/— mmHg and heart rate was 104 bpm. As a woman, is a heart rate of 104 bpm normal?
This heart rate is somewhat elevated and may be accompanied by symptoms such as palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fatigue—particularly in women. Emotional stress or poor sleep can readily trigger cardiac symptoms in such cases. It is recommended that you visit the Department of Cardiology at a hospital for further evaluation, including relevant tests such as: complete blood count (CBC), electrocardiogram (ECG), chest X-ray, echocardiography, carotid artery ultrasound, and 24-hour Holter monitoring—to assess whether any cardiac abnormalities are present. Early detection enables timely intervention and treatment.
