What symptoms occur when a fever damages the brain?
Disease description:
Someone from my hometown developed brain damage due to a high fever. Neighbors often say he is “a bit mentally slow,” but to me, he seems relatively fine. Could you please explain the symptoms of brain damage caused by fever?
Fever-induced brain damage may lead to neurological dysfunction, manifesting as disturbances in consciousness, delirium, agitation, irritability, stupor, or even coma and excessive drowsiness. It may also present with epileptic symptoms such as limb convulsions, muscle spasms, and frothing at the mouth. Particularly in cases of high fever caused by acute meningitis and similar conditions, failure to initiate prompt treatment may result in post-encephalitic sequelae, leading to permanent neurological deficits.
